During the last community engagement, I and Krista were able to get permission from Andrea Edwards – C.E.O of NWCC to get a session with the Junior Youth Club group organized by the community centre.
There was a total of 8 children in attendance at the start of our session. It was a brief session talking to them about the activities they enjoyed doing and ideas of what fun space(s) they would like to see in within their community. Attempting the engagement technique learnt during the Festival of Play workshop, I provided the children with coloured pens and paper and a map and we did a little exercise in locating where they lived, schooled and often visited apart from the community centre, they also penned down activities they enjoyed doing. This engagement definitely helped in my design ideas focusing more on what the children were interested and often engaged in and I wanted the pop up to be a platform that provides that space for them.
